My story
In March of 2007, I got laid off from my job. It was a seriously difficult time in my life. I needed the income for our family to stay afloat, especially with a young child at home…and another one on the way!
I wanted nothing more than to just give up the job hunt and stay at home with my babies. I had hated leaving my little girl at daycare everyday when I shipped off to work, but we needed the money.
All of the interviews I went on were duds. It was an incredibly stressful time. I felt conflicted because I knew I was pregnant, but didn’t want to tell any of my prospective employers. I didn’t want that fact to cloud their judgment, besides which I just wasn’t comfortable sharing that information yet so early in my pregnancy.
In the past I had talked about putting together my own online business. I loved the idea of having a website that could earn me extra money but I had never followed through with it. I was afraid of actually pursuing it because:
- I didn’t have ANY technological savvy, and
- I was scared of failing!
So I decided to start looking into it again. That’s when I came across SBI.
I realized that all I needed was an idea and SBI took care of the rest. I read stories and watched videos of those that were just like me, but able to make thousands of dollars a month by working at home, and doing something they loved.
After hearing stories of so many moms (and dads) just like me, I finally summoned up the courage and took the plunge.
I put off my job search for two months and started my website business.
I can honestly tell you it was the best career decision that I could have possibly made! It took some hard work, but within months, my little website was turning a profit! I was so proud. Within less than a year, I was making more money than I had been making at my previous job! Plus, after the initial startup period, I was only working a few hours a week, so I didn’t have to spend any money on day care!
Today I have time to:
- Spend loads of quality time with my children
- Work out every day
- Play piano (a passion of mine)
- Keep my house clean and organized
- Enjoy life!
I no longer have a “job” that I’m bored with—I have my own business which I’m really proud of!
Today my life is truly my own. What a feeling!
